Yellowstriped fairy basslet (Eng) – Pseudanthias tuka (Lat) (family Anthiinae) – grows up to 12 cm. The distinctive features of Pseudanthias tuka - slightly tilted "snub" of the male profile and a dark spot at the rear of the dorsal fin. Female species have the characteristic yellow band on the back (hence a variant of the English name) It feeds on plankton. Bright, beautiful fish. During the day, divers often meet Pseudanthias tuka in shady areas of shallow coral reefs, often near coral walls. Always in small flocks |
