Yellowstriped cardinalfish (Eng) – Ostorhinchus cyanosoma (Apogon cyanosoma) (Lat) Bleeker, 1853 (family Apogonidae) - grows up to 8 cm (typically 4-7 cm). Feeds on plankton, small benthic invertebrates. Inhabitant of coral reefs at shallow depths - up to 25-30 m. Like the rest of the family kardinalfishes, male bears larvae in the mouth, lovingly caring for it. Divers can meet Yellowstriped cardinalfish during daytime dives, where small flocks of these fish gather in the bushes of coral or around sea urchin, finding there a refuge from larger predators |
